4.12.: I updated my timeline. You can see it here.
18.11.:
Review
The 2012 season is over and I am already preparing for 2013.
2012 was the first year that I have played completely on the WTA Tour. I am very pleased with my performance in 2012. I managed to win my first WTA title in Hobart, made it into the third round at the Australian Open and had several "super" games against top players, such as Victoria Azarenka in Stuttgart or Indian Wells.
Of course, sometimes I would have liked playing a little more consistent, but, as I said, it was my first year on the WTA Tour. I had to get used to the rhythm. Before 2012, I had played tournaments in Europe. Lots of long flights and jet lag were new to me.
Now I know what to expect and I'm looking forward to next year.
16.11.: Finally I translated the timeline into English. You can see it here.
16.11.: Today I was introduced by the WTA as 19. favorite player of the year. I am really proud of it, because this placement is much higher than my ranking. I want to say "thanks" to all people that clicked on my WTA profile and made this ranking possible. Here is the link.
14.11.: Today I created a new design for the biography site. You can see it here.
8.11.: I will post a report of the year 2012 in the next week. And I plan to do some refinements of my website.
a good season's ending...
18.10.: I lost today in two close sets against Venus Williams. I had a bad start into the match and was back 0:4 but I was starting to play better. But in the deciding moments of the match Venus played really aggressiv and was making no mistakes.
17.10.: Together with Jelena Jankovic, I won the doubles against Tatjana Malek and Sandra Klemenschitz. I had lots of fun and I hope, that I will have the opportunity to play some more doubles in the next tournaments.
16.10.: I will play my second round against Venus Williams on Thursday. Tomorrow I will play doubles with Jelena Jankovic against Tatjana Malek and Sandra Klemenschitz.
16.10.: After a bad start into the match, I played better and better, especially in the second set. I am really happy. Maybe I will play against Venus Williams in the second round.
14.10.: I don't have to play again against Kiki. They changed the draw, because Yanina Wickmayer withdrew. Now I have to face Mandy Minella tomorrow.
12.10.: After spending a few days at home, I will try my best in Luxembourg, the last tournament in 2012, I am going to play.
...
8.10.: In the moment I am not able to put a structure into my game. My strokes are good, but I can't follow my matchplan.
7.10.: Now I am already a few days in Linz, it's a beautiful city and the weather was nice the days before. Today it is raining. I had some good practice sessions here and hopefully I am well prepared for my match against Kiki Bertens.
My first Time in Asia...
1.10.: I lost yesterday to Elena Vesnina. It is a long season with many matches for me and many travels in countries, I have never seen before.
27.9.: I arrived in Beijing yesterday and I am fighting against the jetlag. I saw the airport, the hotel and the tenniscourts. Everything looks nice here. Soon I will start with my practice here.
My 4th semifinal in WTA tournament...
15.9.: Unfortunately I couldn't win today, I made too much mistakes. Kirsten Flipkens played really well in her own special style. I tried to fight, saved three matchballs at 2:5 in the second set and made it to 6:6. But I wasn"t able to play my best tennis today.
14.9.: Today I had a good start into the match, I got used to the conditions in Quebec. I played really well today. Barbora fought until the end of the match, so I had to keep my concentration.
12.9.: I had a bad start into the match again and was 0:2 back. But then I started to play well and won 11 games in a row.
11.9.: Yesterday I had my first match in the beautiful city Quebec. I had to face Heather Watson and won. But it wasn't easy. I had a bad start into the match and had difficulties to get into it. But I kept fighting and things went better in the third set. Then I got pain in my lower back, but I got help from a trainer, so I could finish the set with 6:1.
Unfortunately I was sick...
6.9.: Due to the bad weather in New York, I had the chance to visit the Guggenheim Museum. It was very impressive. Now I arrived in Quebec and practiced already. This tournament is indoors, so I don't have to worry about the weather.
2.9.: Yesterday I didn't play tennis, so I did some shopping and went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I like to look at the pictures. Its really great to see all the originals.
31.8.: Tatjana and me couldn't win today, but we played a great match against the French Open champions from 2011 and olympic silver medalists. We had our chances, but our opponents played better in the decisive moments. I got so much positive feedback dur to my outfits. If you are interested in seeing more, you can look at this website.
29.8.: Together with Tatjana Malek, I won the doubles match against Jankovic/Jovanovski. We played more active and confidently in the second and third set, it works out. We played really well together.
28.8.: I was seriosly sick last week, but this is not the place to make a report about my illness. Because the US Open are such a special tournament, I tried to play. I played well in the first set, but it was difficult to move my legs in the 2. and 3. set. I tried to win, but I can't. Bojana played very well, she made only few own mistakes in the 2. and 3. set.
I had to withdraw due to a GI...
27.8.: Unfortunately I couldn't play my second round match due to a GI.
20.8.: When I was a young girl, my coach said to me: "When you are grown up, I see you playing tennis like Hantuchova.".Now I played against her an won, how amazing.
Another close match...
17.8.: Unfortunately an other close match. But it was a great experience to play against Petra Kvitova and to see where I still have to work on.
13.8.: I am very happy to win against Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez. She has a great touch for the balls and played lots of varieties. I had to stay concentrated the whole time. Now I have some time to settle down in Cincinnati befor my next match.
A matchpoint against A. Radwanska...
10.8.: Unfortunately, I didn't win, I had a matchpoint and lots of chances, but Angnieszka played better in the deciding moments.
8.8.: Like in Sweden I had to face a WTA-tournament winner of 2012 in the first round. It was a tough match, Timea played really well, so I was happy to win the tie-break in the third set. It was not easy to keep calm in this match, due to a lot of strange calls from the line judges, only few of them were overruled by the chair umpire.
5.8.: I arrived in Montreal and had some practice session already.
An unexpected start at the Olympics...
28.7.: It was an overwhelming feeling to be part of the opening ceremony yesterday. I played today tennis well, but unfortunately, I lost the match against Urszula Radwanska, she made no mistakes in the deciding moments.
27.7.: The games will start on this weekend and I have to face Urzula Radwanska. It is not an easy draw, because Urzula played well in the last tournaments, especially those on grass. I'll give my best to win this match.
26.7.: "Yesterday I practiced twice." Sounds like a report of a normal tennis tournament. But this one is really special. Living in the Olympic village and meeting so many athletes from other nations is a great experience. Unfortunately the transport to Wimbledon lasts long.
24.7.: Yesterday I got the clothes for London in Mainz from really friendly people. Today I travelled to London, but that was very steressfull. I got some wrong/missing information due to the flight and the transport from the airport to the olympic village lasts really long due to the traffic. Now I arrived and it is very nice here.
My third semifinal in a WTA tournament...
22.7.: I got this dress from two designers at the tournament in Baastad. If you like to see more, click on their website www.mallasockertopp.se/
21.7.: Unfortunately I lost today. Polona played really better due to these conditions. I could not find the right taktik against her. I played better in the second set, but I made too much own mistakes.
20.7.: It was a tough match today, we had a lot of rain delays. The court was wet and slow. Sofia played well in front of her homecrowd. I am happy to play tomorrow the third WTA semifinal of my career.
19.7.: I am very happy that I was nominated for London 2012. It is an honour for me to be a part of it. I feel really sorry for Andrea and I wish her a quick recovery.
18.7.: Today we had difficult weather conditions like the days before, it was windy, but I was lucky, that I was able to finish my match without rain delay. I dealt better with the wind in the first set, in the second set I had to take an early break, but I fought back into the set. Kataryna saved a lot of match points, but I stayed confidently and finally I finished the set 7:5.
16.7.: I am happy, that I was able to win the match against Kiki Bertens. We had bad conditions, it was very windy, it was raining a long time during the match and then a rain delay follwed.
15.7.: Yesterday I arrived in Baastad. For me it is one of the nicest places on earth. Perfectly situated hotel, nice beach, nice weather and long days. I had some good practce yesterday, too.
12.7.: I will travel to Baastad on Saturday. I am looking forward to that nice tournament in a great hotel with beautiful surounding, directly situated at the beach and at the tennis courts. Of course I am looking forward to my tennis matches either.
First experiences in mixed doubles...
7.7.: I am home now, but I played in Wimbledon two mixed doubles matches. Together with Ashley Fisher we won our first round against Rosolska/Norman, but we lost in the second round to Vesnina/Paes. Playing mixed doubles was pure fun, I enjoyed every moment on the court.
2.7.: I am still in the tournament in the mixed doubles. Angelique Kerber and me lost in the ladies doubles against Daniela Hantuchova and Dominika Cibulkova. But together with Ashley Fisher I won my first match in the main draw of Wimbledon in the mixed doubles competition, the first time I played mixed in my life and I enjoyed it very much. Today our second match is scheduled, but the weather forecast is really bad. Yesterday on sunday no matches were scheduled and I took some time to visit the British Museum and to do some shopping afterwards in the city of London.
26.6.: Unfortunately I lost this close match. Vera won the big points of this match and I wasn't able to take my chances. But I think, I can be content, that I played such a close match against the Wimbledon finalist from 2010.
23.6.: I had some good practice on grass here in Wimbledon, I was lucky with the rain. I will take it as a good omen for my match against Vera Svonareva on Monday.
I lost in the 1.st round...
19.6.: I am working really hard on developing my game.
17.6.: I already had tree practice sessions on grass here in Eastbourne.
I lost in the 2.st round...
13.6.: I lost my match today 6:7 (5) 2:6 to Andrea Hlavackova. She played really well on grass especially the serve. I am content with my first match on grass this year.
12.6.: Tomorrow 11 o'clock I will face Andrea Halvackova. I had the chance to practice today on grass.
7.6.: On Monday I will play my first tounament on grass this year in Birmingham
I lost in the 1.st round...
30.5.: Varvara Lepchenko and I lost the doubles today against Zheng and Peng.
28.5.: Thank you for all the support I got on the court and off the court. Unfortunately I lost today, but that's part of the tennis life. On Wednesday I will play doubles with Varvara Lepchenko.
24.5.: I arrived in Paris today. I want to say 'thank you' to all the nice messages I got after my match in Strasbourg. I am happy to get such a support.
I made it into the 2nd round...
9.5.: It is always difficult to play your best tennis against Caroline Wozniacki. She is playing so consistently and I didn't keep my concentration during the match. I am a little bit dissapointed, that I wasn't able to play better. Nevertheless I think that the whole tournament was successfull for me.
5.5.: It was a tough match against Julia Görges. I didn't start well and was making too many unforced errors. But then I could raise my level and I served and returned better.
4.5.: I had a good preparation on the blue clay. Tomorrow I play against Julia Görges.
I had to withdraw due to my foot injury...
1.5.: Today I was part of the kids day in Estoril look here. Tomorrow I will fly to Madrid and start with practice on Thursday.
30.4.: Due to my foot injury, I had to withdraw from the tournament in Estoril. Hopefully, I will be fit for Madrid.
4th time this year against Azarenka...
27.4.: First of all, I want to thank the crowd for the support, it was great to play here in Stuttgart. I am proud to play a tough match against Azarenka and I am a littlebit sad, that I lost, but I had a great week in Stuttgart.
26.4.: My first victory against a top 10 player! I played well today, my serve was pretty good and my returns as well. I am so happy to play the quarterfinals tomorrow.
25.4.: It was really nice being able to play this tournament (I got a wildcard). It was a tough match against Ana Ivanovic. I was serving and returning very well today, so I put a lot of preasure on her and I was able to dictate many points.
24.4.: I was very happy, to have the chance, playing doubles in Stuttgart. Unfortunately, I play not many doubles, so it was difficult for me to find my rhythm. Tatjana and I played the first time together. We did much better in the second set, but it wasn't enough. No I am looking forward to my singles match on wednesday.
19.4.: Since Monday I am practicing in Stuttgart. I look forward to the beginning of the tournament and I get more and more used to the clay surface here. But first of all we have to cross our fingers for our Fed-Cup-Team this weekend.
I made it into the quarterfinals...
13.4.: Unfortunately I didn't play well in the beginning of the match, but I could raise my level in the second set, I won it 6:0.In the third set I was already leading 5:2 and I had two matchpoints, but unfortunately I couldn't close it out. But reaching the quarterfinal in the Copenhagen tournament is a good result for me.
11.4.: I played really well today, I served better than yesterday. It is never easy to win against such an experienced player like Alberta Brianti.
10.4.: It wasn't an easy match against Johanna Larsson today, she played quite well and I didn't serve so well, but I won 6:3 6:4, so I'm happy.
7.4.: I arrived today in Copenhagen and practiced a bit. By the way, this is the first tournament of this year, I played before. Last year I qualified and made it into the semifinals. Of course I like this tournament.
The first time, I won against a top 20 player...
24.3.: I lost today against Makarova. She played really well, made few own mistakes. Unfortunately I didn't feel physically well and so I wasn't able to play my best tennis.
22.3.: The first time, I won against a top 20-player. I am very happy to win against former no.1 Jelena Jankovic. My tactic worked out, my serve wasn't that good today.
20.3.: I had a solid match against Greta Arn, I won 6:1 6:0. Next match will be on thursday against Jelena Jankovic.
17.3.:Yesterday we arrived in Miami, today I had some practice.
Azarenka again...
11.3.: Today we took a trip with a hummer through the desert. First we visited thousand palm oasis and walked over a bridge over the san andreas fault and saw the water gurgeling out. Then we travelled in a hummer along the canyons to the Joshua Tree Nationalpark, where we could see the special vegetation. Tomorrow I will start with the tennis practise again.
9.3.: An unbelievable match against Azarenka, I enjoyed it a lot playing on the center court in front of an amazing crowd against the world no. 1. I played some good tennis today, but she won the points in the important moments. Unforunately I could't win today, but I learned a lot from this match and I'm looking forward to the next tournament in Miami.
7.3.: I played a solid match today against Jill Craybas, especially I served well.
6.3.: I got used to the time difference and to the courts as well. In the first round I have to face Jill Craybas, I never played against her before. Once again we had a cockroach in our room, so we got another room now. Hopefully we will have none of these uninvited guests.
3.3.: We arrived yesterday in Indian Wells. I practiced today, the tennis resort is really beautiful, surrounded by mountains, which lookes like a wallpaper. I saw my first cockroach in the bathroom of my hotel room. Together with my mother, armed with champagne bucket, clothes hangers and sneakers, I finally killed it. This insect was running really fast.
1.3.: Tomorrow I am going to fly to Indian Wells. It is the first time, I play this tournament. I am looking forward to playing tennis matches again.
I didn't qualify...
Unfortunately I deleted all original reports. So I try a recovery: In the first round of qualification I had to face (again) Anne Keothavong. I won in two straight sets. In the second round I won in three tough sets against Bojana Jovanovski.I lost the qualification final against Petra Martic.
I made it into 2. round...
12.2.: I have to play my first match against Caroline GARCIA. I never played against her before. I practised today in Doha, it is really windy here. Unfortunately I had not a lot of time to get used to the new conditions, but I am looking forward to my match tomorrow.
13.2.: I won against Caroline Garcia 7:6 7:6. This match was tough for me, because it was difficult to get used to the different conditions and I was still feeling tired from the tournament in Paris. I kept fighting and I am happy, that I won this match.
15.2.: Unfortunately I lost my match against Azarenka 6:1 6:0. I wasn't playing my best tennis today, but it was a nice experience playing against the new world nr. 1 again.
I made it into the Quarterfinals...
3.2.: We arrived in Paris yesterday. I had two good practise sessions. I have to qualify, I am the first seeded in the qualification.
5.2.: I just finished my first match. I won 6:4 6:3 against Marya Korrytseva. It is difficult to get used to the surface and the balls.
6.2.: I finished my first match today early in the morning at 12:30 a.m.. I won my second match as well. Julie Coin played well in front of her homecrowd.
7.2.: I am happy, that I qualified for the main draw. I won in two straight sets against Varvara Leptchenko. In the main draw I face Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova.
8.2.: I won my match today. It wasn't easy, because she is playing unpredictible and she is running really fast and gets lots of balls back.
9.2.: I had a difficult sart today, but I played better and better, espacially in the second set (against Pauline Parmentier). I am very happy to be in the quarterfinals tomorrow.
11.2.: I just finished my match early in the morning. Unfortunately I lost. Yanina Wickmayer played a really good match, she played very aggressiv and made only few unforced errors. I could't take my chances today, but I kept on fighting until the end, but I was a littlebit too tired to turn the match around. But overall I am really happy with this tournament. From the Qualies I got into the Quarterfinals. I didn't expect that, because my preparation at home wasn't good, because I was sick the whole week. I am going to Doha now, I was lucky and got into the maindraw.
3. Runde erreicht...
